This wine shows the classic concentration of Nuits-St-Georges with an enticing perfume, rich colour and mouth-filling fruit together with a savoury finish. Bright cherry, currant and strawberry fruit flavours are backed by a dense matrix of dusty tannins in this compact red. Balanced with great structure, the wine lingers on the finish with a hint of cumin. The saturated flavours are intense. Best from 2023 through 2038.
Louis Jadot was established in Beaune by founder Louis-Henry Jadot in 1859. They have carefully striven to establish and maintain the quality of their wines for 160 years through the steady acquisition of the best vineyards in Burgundy. Over a century and a half later, they now produce wines from over 150 appellations - from Beaujolais Villages to Le Montrachet.
Nuits-Saint-Georges wines are produced on land delimited by the parishes of Nuits-Saint-Georges and Prémeaux-Prissey. The soils are basically composed of limestone and marl. A perfect exposure to the east gives the capacity to produce splendid wines. A season of extreme summer temperatures and one of the hottest and sunniest on record led to lower yields. However, whilst yields are low, the quality and concentration is outstanding, with wines of great character.
The wine is vinified in open vats for 3 to 4 weeks and is then aged in oak barrels for 12 months.
Perfect with grilled and roasted red meats or enjoy locally with the region's speciality oeufs en murette.
Wine Spectator - "A dark, blackberry and black cherry laced red, with earth and iron accents. A reserved character and a dense structure. Oak spice elements emerge on the lingering finish. Best from 2022 through 2033."
