A quite rich Burgundian white that reveals finesse and balance throughout. Creamy and buttery with a lovely blob of oak that adds a slightly nutty character to this beautiful wine. Rich but restrained, there is a real elegance and sense of quality that shines through til the end.
Annie Saumaize runs Domaine des Maillettes with the help of her son Guillaume, tending to vines across more than twenty parcels in several Mâconnais communes to produce Pouilly-Fuissé and other AOC wines. The Chardonnays are classically-styled with vinification in oak for richness and complexity.
Grapes grown on limestone and clay soils.
Fermented in barrique, this wine then spent 12 months in a mixture of new and older French oak.
A versatile white that will go beautifully with poultry or fish, salads or just as a refreshing glass on its own.
